I am actually loving the fact that there are so many mindfulness and self care books around right now, I feel like lately people are actually appreciating it and thinking more about what it means to be mindful. I learned about mindfulness first when I was doing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy a few years ago, and I honestly didn’t pick up on it as much as I have done over the last 6 months. Seeing more people, especially within the blogging community talking about mindfulness makes me so happy I could smile all day everyday.
I am the kind of person that stresses about everything, even the little things, but I can’t help it, my mind ends up running away with me and I end up in such a mess I can’t even get myself out of it. I am the worst person for worrying about what my future holds and forgetting the beautiful life that I have currently in the present.
Mindfulness isn’t an easy journey, in fact I have found it quite a hard journey, it isn’t the easiest thing in the world, but do you know what it is one of the most worthwhile things I have actually done.
With the rise of our lives being dedicated to our computers and social media, it is more and more important we find time to just be able to switch of and appreciate being in the present moment. I remember a time where I was able to actually appreciate watching a movie or a box set with my husband without checking up on social media, or writing blog posts. As much as I love it I have realised that I never actually take a moment away.
Imagine if there was no internet at all? What would we do?
I’ve focused more on trying to live in the moment and appreciate everything around me, especially when it comes to time with my husband. To breathe through stressful situations for me, especially when I am struggling the most. I actually have been struggling a lot lately with my anxiety so taking deep breaths when I am feeling completely overwhelmed. It doesn’t solve all my problems, but it is a coping mechanism for me, and we all need that sometimes right?
I’ve had so much help from Ruby Wax A Mindfulness Guide For The Frazzled and The Little Book Of Hygge has made everything seem a lot easier and keep me focusing on what is important in life.
I believe it is so important for this trend to stick around, people need to understand the importance of mindfulness and self care!
What do you think about this trend? Are you trying it?
