Between You And Me Book Review

Recently I have really been getting back into my book reading, where I have been so busy I honestly haven’t had a chance to get into a good book, however, I’m back on it! When it comes to books, I like to have a good mix of genres, mainly because I don’t like to read the same genre too many times, I mean I am very very picky. So when I found this one in my local Sainsbury’s I was intrigued by it and honestly couldn’t wait to read it. Ready to find out about this wonderful book?

This book is all about Charlie and Sal, they start out as what seemed to be the perfect couple going through university, from an outside perspective they were perfect, but what went on behind closed doors was a completely different scenario. Charlie is the bread-winner of the family, in a very high powered, high stress job, and Sal is a very busy stay at home parent to their daughter. Behind closed doors Sal is an abuse victim, both mentally and physically at the hands of Charlie. It is a harrowing read and honestly if you’ve been at the hands of abuse this probably isn’t the book for you, however it is a very well written book with a fantastic twist you never saw coming at the end!

Overall Thoughts

I literally could not stop reading this book, it is one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. It took me a day to read because it is one of those books where you can’t wait to find out what happens next, you want to make sure that the characters are okay. The way Lisa has written the book honestly makes it seem like you’re watching it, a little bit like a film, it has so much detail in it, you feel like you’re going through the emotions with them, you feel like you’re right there with them throughout everything! Throughout reading I went through the mill of wanting so badly to help Sal, support them, help her get out of there with her baby. Lisa wrote this book so perfectly I feel like it is so real in my mind!

This book has a massive twist at the end and honestly it is something that I never saw coming, I mean I literally sat there and reread it for around 20 minutes because I thought for a moment I had read it wrong, but I hadn’t, it was true and I was in awe of it. This book has honestly been stuck in my mind ever since, I can’t stop thinking about the characters and what could happen next!

I definitely give this a 5/5 rating, it is emotive, it is a real page turner, I couldn’t put it down. If you like psychological thrillers then you need this book on your bookshelf! It is such a good read!

Fancy buying this book? You can get it on Amazon for Kindle & in paperback!
