Pursuit Of Perfection

Recently there has been a lot of pressure on everyone whether they’re male or female to look a certain way or have a particular figure, but that is something that needs to stop. Darling you are beautiful just the way you are, we all have imperfections, we are all unique, but the important thing is is to love yourself for who you are.

With all the celebrities there will be pieces that are in fashion to make you look skinnier, or to sculpt you in a particular way, or a workout that will tell you how to get rock hard abs ready for your summer body. But when you see that, take a step back for a minute, why would you work so hard to be able to wear a swimsuit for 1 season rather than trying to be healthy all year round? Is health really something that is only good for 1 out of the 4 seasons?

Recently however, there has been a lot of pressure on young women who feel the need to have a wasp like waist. A lot of the stars like Kim Kardashian-West, Amber Rose, Khloe Kardashian & Jessica Alba have all shown they’re fans of the new “waist training” trend. So many people in this world want to have the perfect body, they want to have these fabulous curves but they also want to be slim, a lot of this can be done through workouts, developing muscle can help people to be healthy and develop curves. Sometimes people can go down the permanent route of getting surgery, which people will feel like they’ve achieved the perfect body.

Take a step back a moment, look at your body in the mirror, what would you change, what you want, how would you change your body? Write all of those things down, now how would you feel if someone around you thought those things? Maybe your mum, your child, your sister, your brother, your uncle, your aunt, anyone? How would you feel about that? The point about that exercise is the fact that you should treat your body like your friend, your body is incredible, it works 24 hours a day, it deserves to be treated right.

When it comes to waist trainers however, the side effects come at a price, if the waist trainer is too tight, then it can cause a lot of discomfort, it can mess with your breathing, and a very serious side effect is the fact that your stomach could be pushed beyond your diaphragm, and this could cause you to have reflux.

If you are looking at long lasting results, then the waist trainer is what you want, because as soon as you stop wearing it, your body will move back to where it is supposed to be. If you want to lose weight, go for a walk, cut out fizzy drinks, drink more water, eat the right foods and limit takeaways.

Hold up, we’re not done yet, it’s not only the ladies that are in pursuit of the perfect body, so are the guys. When it comes to summer for the guys, they need to start working their pecs out, abs need to start coming out, arm muscles need to be pumping and the men are worrying more and more about the way they need to look ready for the summer.



With the stars like Zac Efron and Daniel Craig packing on the pressure for the guys to look “beach ready” and it’s yet again that time of year where the guys will start hitting the gym, changing their eating habits, waxing or shaving to get rid of the hair on their skin to feel like they are beach body ready.

Working out is ridiculously hard and sometimes when a person is in the gym, you feel under pressure, whether you’re male or female, seeing the women running on the treadmill without a little bit of sweat and the guys lifting heavy weights it can make you feel a little uncomfortable. I have been there and it can make you feel self conscious, and you might be thinking more about what other people think about you rather than focusing on what you’re supposed to be doing.

But it shouldn’t matter what gender you are, what body shape you are, you’re perfect already, you don’t need to be “beach body” ready, if you have a swimsuit and you put it on, guess what, you’re ready for the beach. You’re beautiful inside and out, as long as you’re comfortable, that is all that matters, don’t ever feel pressure for you to look a specific way, you’re beautiful!
