Get To Know Blooming Fiction

I can’t believe we are in the second month of the year, it seems to be going so quickly, but these are some of my favourite posts to do f the month because you get a chance to get to know some of the most fabulous people ever! This is your chance to get to know Katie from Blooming Fiction! Now when it comes to book choices, and let me tell you, I always need amazing book choices, then Katie is one of the first places I go! There’s everything from fictional reads, to giveaways, lifestyle, book tours, you name it, Katie’s place is your place to find the perfect place to find some of the most perfect book choices, so are you ready to find out more about the person behind the blog? Let’s go!

1.  What was the reason you started your blog/business?
I began blogging to escape from an otherwise mundane daily routine. After quitting my job of 4 years, due to excruciating and pretty awful levels of bullying, I turned to freelance writing. Struggling to get work, I clicked on Blogger one day and just started typing… and that was it! I was hooked. I’ve never looked back since. Blogging gave me a voice and a new sense of friendship which I hadn’t felt in a long time.

2. What have you learned through your blogging/business journey?
I’ve learnt so much! I believe in constantly learning and developing any and every skill so blogging has been a great way for me to practise this belief. Although I only launched Blooming Fiction in June 2016 I’ve learnt some basic HTML, begun editing photos and of course I’ve been constantly developing my writing techniques. For me, personally, all these little benefits are a great set of goals for me to keep improving myself, and make virtual friends while doing it.

3.  How would you best describe your blog/business?
Blooming Fiction is largely a book blog but has lifestyle elements like beauty/life/cooking/travel blended in. It started off being exclusively a book blog, because that’s what I love, but this year I’ve branched out and started making leaps out of my comfort zone to learn more about me and to share my own personal experiences with those who read the blog. To me, that’s something very special.

4. Name something quirky that you can do, that we might not know about you.
Great word quirky! My only strange gift is that I can lick my nose haha. However, back in my early twenties I had an amazing job as a Haven Funstar …. the equivalent to a Butlins Redcoat. That was pretty quirky and cool!

5. What was one of your favourite posts to write or create? What about it did you enjoy the most?
Wow …. there’s so many! There’s a couple I can I pinpoint. The first is book review on 50 Shades. I love how the opinions of this book varied so much and I really enjoyed writing my version to add another spanner into the already controversial reviews. The other is one of my latest blog entries, my first life entry in fact. I enjoyed writing this because it was so different to anything else I had previously written. I blogged about my early months of pregnancy, which I’m still going through now, which was very personal for me and quite revealing. The support I’ve had for this post has been incredible and it’s persuaded me to keep delving in to the lifestyle genre of blog posts.

6. Why should someone come and visit your blog/shop/business?
Why not? Haha! Blooming Fiction is more than a blog, it’s a gathering of friends who like the same things and I love chatting to readers on all social platforms. Although, one day I’d love Blooming Fiction to be one of those ‘go to blogs’ (especially for books), I want nothing more than to share my content and thoughts with the blogging community and make some life long friends through our love of blogs.
