Motivating Yourself And Achieving Your Goals

Motivation, lately it is something that has alluded me, I mean motivation has been something that is at an all time low. I have had all of these blog post ideas, but 0 motivation, to do them. I did a blog post the other day on things I wanted to do in April, well this is another point where I’m giving myself a kick up the backside. We all need a little motivation sometimes, we all need a reminder that we can achieve anything we put our minds to. So how am I going to motivate myself and achieve my goals?

I am so determined to get my motivation back and just do more of what makes me happy. Blogging makes me so happy, I just need to awaken the motivational fire inside of me and get my backside in gear!

Planning is key.

I’m an expert planner, I love having everything in check, what I need to do, what I’m planning to do, you name it, I’ll plan it. If I plan it well enough, I know I can basically get it all done, without a worry in the world. The worst thing you can do is overload your day, what I mean by that is if you expect too much from yourself you will just put yourself under so much pressure nothing will actually get done.

No one wants that at all.

Turn off social media

Being a blogger sometimes means that you have to be all over social media, but it can be my biggest distraction. I end up endlessly scrolling through Instagram or Twitter and before I know it half an hour has gone past and I have done absolutely nothing. Social media is good and all, but it’s important to notice when it is impacting on what you’re doing – for me it is pretty much all of the time. I end up hiding my phone which isn’t always the best idea I’ve ever had.

Set Achievable Goals

This is so important, I mean if you’re trying to reach 10k followers on Instagram in a 6 months and you have 100, that isn’t a realistic goal. Instagram is probably the most difficult platform to grow, just don’t be one of those people who use bots or do the follow/unfollow method, that is the most irritating thing on the planet.

Go out & do something you love

I am the kind of person that loves to do so many different things, working out, taking photos, spending time with my family, going on a massive cycle, you name it. Getting out is so important, it ignites something inside of you to write, to get inspired, to just do whatever it takes to get to where you need to be,

Having supportive people around you

I’m not gonna lie, having the right support around you is important. You can be productive everyday, sometimes having the right support to just build you back up, to remind you that you can slay life, you can achieve anything. On days where you’re not motivated, having these people around you makes you smile more than anything!

Social media is a total killer for my productivity, but the absolute worst is getting caught up in a Netflix show! I love going to the library where I’m forced to sit in silence without all those distractions. I get so much work done there!

Oh lord yes, I get caught up in Ru Paul’s drag race and then nothing gets done, it’s the worst! xxxx

I know what you mean, once I get myself into a groove I just don’t stop, but I think we all need a break sometimes! xxxx

  • Great points, Amie. I think another main pointer would be to not force yourself. Especially with writing blog posts. The more you’ve gotta force yourself to get the words out, the worse they tend to be, I’ve found! xxx

AMEN TO THIS! This is so important, if it doesn’t come naturally don’t do it! xxxx

such great points! I agree with all of them 🙂 I think writing things down can be especially helpful, as then you have something concrete to look back to and keep you motivated 🙂

Most definitely, I know from experience having them written down gives me such a boost in what I need to do! xxxx

  • I find motivation hits me at the most inappropriate and un-useful times. Then when I am actually sat at a computer, it has all drained away into the abyss. During those moments rather than sit down doing nothing, I will grab the dogs leads and take them for a walk. Fresh air away from everything usually clears my head. I can’t say it always returns that lost motivation though!

I know what you mean, it’s normally when you’re in bed and slowly falling asleep, that is the worst thing! Fresh air and a long walk honestly clears my head and sometimes get me in the right head space! xxxx

  • Yes to this!! Oh my gosh I have been lacking so much motivation lately that I really needed to read this blog post so thank you! 🌸✨

Yeah agreeded I struggle with motivation sometimes its so stressful. I think setting realistic goals is seriously important but also not necessarily setting time frames so that you don’t get negative about things.

    • amiecadwallader@outlook.com says:

It is so important because to be honest we all need goals that we feel like we can achieve, there is nothing worse than getting disheartened when we don’t achieve something! Time frames can be the worst, but we’ve all got to do what is best for us! xxxx

These are such important things to remember – not even just as a blogger but in general! I completely feel you with getting distracted by social media – I often have to turn my phone off when I’m supposed to be working because otherwise I just get nothing done! xo

I totally agree, I think we all need time away from social media, you can just get sucked into it and lose time haha! xxx
