Lockdown, lockdown, lockdown. Honestly it has been so rough. I think it is important to remember that we are all dealing with it differently. We can be productive, we can have days where getting out of bed is the hardest thing in the world, we can have days where we feel we can take on the world and everything in between. I’ve been finding joy in so many different places right now, and even though I’m still trying to find a rhythm with working from home, I’m doing everything I physically can. So what joys have I been finding?
No Make Up Days
I’ve not been doing my make up that much recently to be honest, I only really do it on a Saturday at the moment, I’m really trying to give my skin a break and so far, my skin is loving it. It seems much happier than it has been in a while and I’m feeling really good about it.
Not one that I ever thought I would say, because Instagram is probably been the toughest place for everything but I feel like I can share my thoughts, feelings and everything I love on there. I have been feeling more and more inspired with my content and connecting with so many people on the platform.
No Bra Days
Got to be honest, this gives me so much joy, mainly because the boob prisons aren’t always the most comfortable things in the entire world to wear, but I’m definitely enjoying not having to wear one every single day!
Learning To Separate Home From Work
I really struggle with this because when I’m at work, as soon as I leave the office, I know that it is time to switch off and focus on home mode. Even though it has been hard, I’ve appreciated it as a learning curve.
Speaking To Family More
I normally speak to my grandparents a couple of times a week, but I’ve literally been calling them every other day, I’ve been taking food and supplies down to them, and it has made me appreciate them so much more. Right now family, our elderly and vulnerable are so important, and appreciating them for me personally has never been greater.
Reading More
I always take my Kindle with me everywhere, even when I went into the office so I could read on my lunchbreak, however, now that I’m home more, I find that in the evening to switch off I read my book. I find it so calming and helps me sleep so much better.
The Sims
I’ve spent so many hours on The Sims lately, I’ve stated again multiple times, done so many different university courses on there and honestly I’ve loved every minute of it. The best bit is, is I have all the expansions and game/stuff packs too.
Sharing The Struggle
The second part of my title, this is bringing me joy. I’ve broken down on Instagram Stories, felt completely overwhelmed on Twitter and feel like I’ve bared my heart on my blog and this pandemic has been a learning curve for everyone. I think being able to share the struggle on your platform can rally help people to know that they’re not alone, and in turn knowing I’m not alone helps me too.
By sharing the struggle it can really help, putting it all out there into the world, clearing your mind and sharing how you feel. It has definitely helped me.
Whatever way you cope, if you’re struggling, know that you will never be alone in this situation, it is challenging us, but we will get through it.

I’m deffo reading more too and embracing the make up free life haha! We will get though it indeed! Sending you lots of love xx
This is such a great post! I thought I was getting there with the balance – I’ve had a much more productive week in terms of getting things done around work and not just playing on the Sims. But having lost most of today due to not sleeping well all week and it catching up in the form of a massive headache, I haven’t got the balance I want as it’s really wound me up. I loved reading this – especially your opening paragraph about going from taking on the world to not wanting to get out of bed. Great read!
I love these things that brings you joy. Oooh I am all for the no makeup days. I mean I love wearing makeup, but it takes work. It is great that you’re taking part more in these activities. Thanks for sharing!

My skin has benefitted so much from not wearing makeup, I didn’t really used to wear it much before lockdown because my job is such a hard working job that you sweat it off anyway! I’ve loved the fact that I have blogged more and been a lot more productive with that! x

I am definitely enjoying no make up days too! I haven’t ever gone this long without consistently wearing make up before. Which in the long run is saving me money too lol and I have enjoyed reading more too. I’ve always loved to read but had trouble finding the time too. And now I’ve got nothing but time!
I definitely found some comfort in The Sims for the first few weeks, it’s an amazing distraction when you need to switch off from the world which I think I needed for a while. Having a platform to connect with others and know they’re going through a similar thing is great too x

Reading more has definitely been one of my main highlights, too! I never used to make a lot of, if any time for it and I’ve been loving getting back into it 🙂

I’m totally with you on the ‘no makeup days’ it feels good just getting on with the day without having to have that as part of my routine. I’m also enjoying spending more time chatting to my family via video calls and overall appreciating this slower pace of life. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Amie and reminding us we are not alone in our struggles <3 xx

I honestly think I connected most with the joy of not wearing a bra or makeup! Talk about freedom and feeling comfortable just the way we are at home. I love that lockdown has created positives and encouraged people to chat with family and friends more. 🙂
It has been so good not having to wear a bra or proper clothes! I have been working from home so working in my pjs. Take care of yourself xx
Love how positive this post is my lovely. No-Makeup Days and Instagram are both also making me so happy right now! I’m sending you so much love. Stay strong, stay home, stay safe. 💜

This was such a good read!
Since lockdown begun, pretty much every day has been a no make up day for me unless I’ve felt inspired to take some photos.
I have tiny boobs so I never wear a bra anyway but it feels great not to right?!
Stay safe!
