1st love

When I first transitioned to vegan I fell in love with the Great Food Company, I know that might sound silly, but I absolutely adored everything that they had, I’d buy it all of the time, and when I saw that they were at the Just V Show, I of course had to stop buy and make a purchase, I mean it was the law.

about the company

The Great Food Company are 100% vegan & gluten free, they offer a wide variety of products from falafel (I am addicted) to veg cakes, to dips, to koftas, these are all incredible products that will fit right into your diet for fabulous food that is healthy and tastes absolutely fabulous. Do you know the best bit? When you’re trying to eat healthy, sometimes you don’t feel full, but with these fabulous foods, I’ve found that I feel full all of the time, I can last until it is dinner time!

This fabulous chocolate is something very new, it tastes absolutely amazing, I have sometimes struggled with the taste and the difference between non vegan chocolate and vegan chocolate, I am getting used to it, but this one, you’d never know the difference, it is light, creamy, and delicious, the kind of chocolate that is dangerous like you have a square, and then you want more, and then you want more.

a little info about the product

Lots Of This, None Of That is a fabulous dairy free ‘milky’ chocolate bar, and what Plamil Foods have done with this product is reduced the amount of sugar that is in the product, but also made it so it is gluten and nut free. Another fabulous thing about the chocolate is that is is 30g and the amount of sugar that is in this product is still less than 20g of a similar product.

I have had the other ranges before and I have found that there is so much variety which is another reason why I love their chocolate. Lots Of This None Of That is very similar to the other ranges, there are 8 fabulous chunks of heaven which mean they’re perfect for snaking, or even sharing a little with smaller hands i.e your children, not much but a little and you won’t have to worry too much about there being lots and lots of sugar in them.

As most people will know I am currently working with Sativa Shakes, and I am working on posting some new recipes for them by using their protein powder. That review will be coming on Saturday with the down low on the 2 fabulous flavours I received, however instead I’ve been playing around with different combinations, and this has to be one of my favourites.

Hey presto, here is one I made earlier. I basically use a very basic vegan muffin recipe which can make it a little easier, because then you can adapt the recipe the way you want it to, depending on the different combinations.

Ingredients:

  • 192g/ 1½ cups of flour (I used plain flour)
  • 110g/ ½ a cup of brown sugar
  • ½ a teaspoon of salt
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 175ml / ¾ cup of milk, I used almond milk but you can use any vegan milk you would like, oat milk would go perfectly
  • 60ml/ ¼ of coconut oil melted
  • 1 ¼ teaspoon of pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup/130g of frozen raspberries
  • 30g of Sativa Shakes Chocolate and Caramel protein powder (Optional)

Firstly you need to familiarise yourself with all kinds of ingredients that you’e going to use like tofo and tempeh, there are so many recipes out there if you just look!

If you’re 100% certain about becoming vegan then it is important that your kitchen changes too, so make sure that you have your cupboard and fridge filled with vegan food so that if it is late at night and you’re hungry you can fulfil those temptations, and stick to your vegan lifestyle. Things like fruit or even granola is a brilliant snack that you can eat at any time of the day!

If you think you can completely stick to being vegan overnight, then go for it, but sometimes, it is better to give it a few weeks, start of with a vegan breakfast, then vegan lunch and then vegan dinner, so you can get used to it and you’re sure this is 100% what you want!

What are NOM bars?

NOM bars are basically snacks that don’t contain any refined sugars or horrible nasties. The bars are filled with some incredible superfoods including things like coconut oil, cacao nibs, raspberries, bananas, and coconut palm sugar and they’re GMO free, which is fabulous. These bars are 100% vegan, and there is 17g of organic protein in the original oat protein bar.

What is the taste like?

It tastes really  nice, like a solid bar of oatmeal with cacao nibs and raspberry in between, and the original ones are still just as delicious, if you don’t like raspberry, then the original ones just have cacao nibs in them, that way you can still get your protein hit, and have that chocolate hit when you’re craving chocolate the most.
