Why You Should Focus On Your Own Life And Do It Your Way

The title of this post is pretty self explanatory to be honest, however it is pretty easy to get caught up on what other people have or what they’re doing  rather than your own life. I am not gonna lie, I’m guilty of this on so many levels. I look at others and think damn I’m the same age as them but I’m so far behind, or I’m like I work so hard and it never pays off. It’s the difficult thoughts that go through my head. There are so many reasons why you should focus on your own life and do it your way.

Comparison is the thief of happiness, and I have spoken about this on a regular basis, however you should always do your life your own way. When you see someone who is absolutely killing it, achieving so much in their life and that is where you want to be, use it as motivation to get to where you need to be!

Being online there are lots of people who will want to tear you down, I mean it’s okay to have a difference of opinion, but there is no need to be mean. I’ve had many a time where people have decided it was a good idea to just tear me down for being myself and sharing my thoughts.

In life there will always be someone who has more money than you, has a bigger house than you, who might be better at something than you, but look around you, who is standing by your side? Your family, your friends, your partner, your pets. All while you’re focusing on someone else’s life you’re forgetting how lucky you are.

If you want to get what you want in life, focus on yourself, work hard on your goals, hard work will pay off eventually.

To the people who feel the need to tear others down:

Don’t be cruel, don’t be mean, if you’re not where you need to be right now then continue to work hard, it pays off eventually even if you might not see it straight away.

If you spent more time focusing on your own life, rather than what everyone else is doing, you might get there a little quicker.

Be your own motivation to get to where you need to be. You don’t need to achieve something everyday, I’m not saying that, but what I am saying is if you want something in life you have to go out and get it.

You can do anything you put your mind to.

Just make sure that you focus on yourself rather than what everyone else is doing in life, don’t compare your journey to others. Someone might be at chapter 10 and you at chapter one. There is no comparison that could ever make you feel better.

Amie, I couldn’t agree with this more. Too many people – especially online – spend far too much time focusing on what others are doing. It doesn’t mean you should never speak out, but too many people spend far too much time looking at others and not themselves. It’s so important to just ‘do you’ and from there people will find they’re generally happier! x

Exactly, I think if you want to get to where you need to be, set yourself goals, just do what you need to do, blogging is competitive, but honestly everyone does an amazing job, I feel like there is a spot for everyone in the community! xxx

This is such a interesting post – comparison can be so hard to avoid sometimes. And the point about people being mean. It always scares me when I put something online that people are going to be mean about it.

Oh I totally agree, it can be so difficult, I’ve dealt with my fair share of trolls, but never let them stop you from posting, it’s your corner of the internet! xxxx

This post resonated with me so much! I was just talking about the concept of “writing my own story” on my blog, as it’s something i’ve learnt especially this past year. Doing CBT, i realise that the only thing i can have control over is MY life. If shit happens around me, i can’t change that. What i can change is my response and the way i look at things.

All my love beautiful girl, i was so proud of you after reading this xxx

Thank you so much angel, it really does mean a lot! Remembering that you only have control over your own life is so important, mainly because you end up stressing yourself out more worry about what is going on everywhere else! Always here if you need anything angel! xxxxx
