I have made so many friends online, I love being online, talking to people and supporting people who are just fantastic humans, but sometimes it can be exhausting to be online all the time. We all need time away to be honest, it can help us to just rejuvenate and just get back to where we need to be. Turning off that phone and unplugging the wifi can be the most liberating thing in the entire world.
I adore blogging more than words can ever say, but the problem with having your phone right at your fingertips is the urge to check it 24/7, safe to say I’m addicted to social media. I like to stay up to date with everything that is going on, make sure that I am not missing any comments on my blog, that I have replied to the people who have tweeted me and made sure that I am up to date with life.
When you sign off it honestly makes a massive difference, as much as it can be hard to keep your fingers off your phone but I’m definitely reaping the benefits of not being online all of the time.
With being away from my computer, my phone and everything connected to the online world, it made me feel more inspired, to keep motivated and to continue with blogging, which can be something I need more than anything sometimes.
Not only that time away from electronics can help to remind you of the passions that might have been put on the backburner, for example since turning off my phone and distancing myself from social media I have finally got back into my reading schedule, I’ve been working hard on my fitness and I seem to be an overall happier person.
Whatever you do though, don’t feel guilty for being offline, honestly. I’m the kind of person that feels guilty for not being online because I just sit there and think oh what could I be doing, I could be being more productive, getting things done, but no I’m making time for myself.
It can be an odd feeling to be honest.
Do you know what though? Being online isn’t everything. Seriously.
We all need time away from social media and electronics. It’s good for you. There is a life outside and honestly it is fabulous to find balance. Have you got emails to check? Don’t panic, they’re not going anywhere, you can check them in the morning?
Remember that even if your job is online sometimes we all need time away, you wouldn’t bring your work home all the time, it wouldn’t be healthy.
What are your thoughts on this? Let me know in the comments!
