My Biggest Blogging Pet Peeves

Blogging can be really hard, it is not an easy thing and I’ve never claimed it was easy, and there are so many ways of going about blogging. We all do what works best for us, however there are some things that really do grind my gears, I’m not saying there is a right or wrong way of blogging, however there are a few things that really annoy me that do just take the biscuit. A lot of you will probably recognise these and relate to them, so are you ready?

1. Auto DM’s

Oh lord if I ever receive and automated DM again I think I might just scream. They are so annoying. I have to admit though when I first started I did use them because I thought wow, maybe these are a good idea. Trust me, they’re not, they’re just irritating to the person receiving them. If you receive them, you’re more likely to just ignore them. I apologise to anyone who I sent one to in the past. I have learned I promise.

2. Tagging Brands In The Bottom Corner On Instagram

Oh the times when I’ve wanted to see where a product is from and someone has just tagged all the brands in one clump in the bottom corner. Why? Why would you do that? Why do you think that is necessary. Trust me it isn’t it is just annoying. Especially when you really want a product. Just tag it normally. Ugh the rage is real when it comes to this!

3. Following & Unfollowing On All Social Media

If people think the method is just for Instagram it isn’t, it works on Twitter now too apparently. I lose so many because they think that it is a good way to go about growing your following. It isn’t, it’s annoying and irritating. The amount of people I have blocked because they follow then unfollow then a day later refollow. Please don’t be a pain in the backside. If you like my stuff follow, if you don’t, don’t follow. I don’t always follow people back mainly because I end up forgetting and only follow people I actually talk to.

4. Do Follow Links

When companies don’t understand that no amount of money or products are actually going to get me to put a do follow link for you. Seriously, it isn’t happening. I’ve worked too hard to get to where I am just to get some money or products. It’s about integrity & not misleading the people that take time out of their day to read the posts.

5. Spam Comments

This kind of follows on from the whole Instagram thing, when people use bots and just put an emoji up, I’ve been deleting so many lately, I don’t want to be associated with using a bot, it’s ridiculous. It’s so annoying and not only that if you want to comment, comment but don’t just leave a rubbish comment like that when I know you haven’t typed it yourself.

This isn’t a blogger bashing post, we all have certain things that annoy us, but these are my top ones to be honest!

What are your blogger pet peeves? Have I missed any out? Let me know in the comments! I’d love to know your thoughts!

I 100% agree to all of these! Especially the brand tagging on Instagram, what’s the point if I can’t click through?! X

Exactly! It is so annoying when I can’t find out where things are from! xxxx

Gosh I agree with the follow & unfollow thing too! Drive me nuts. How can people have the time to do that? I usually block them.
Also I hate when i live a comment with a question (twitter , blog post etc.) and that I get not reply I am not talking about famous big blogger that received 1000 of comments a day , I am talking about people like me that got small amount of followers and that have time to reply to my question which was their only comment. It happened on few occasions that I deleted bloggers because they never reply back. I know its harsh but that is my biggest pet peeves.

But I do agree with everything else too.

I think responding to questions is so important however I know from personal experience that twitter does hide notifications! It has done it to me so many times! xxx

Oh my gosh yes! I’d rather people just tag or if they have an affiliate code just type it out, I’m not a fan of that like to know it either darling! xxx

Following and unfollowing is SO ANNOYING, as are automated DMs. There are so many little things that bug me about the blogging community, but I love it all the same haha! xx

It gets so irritating, it’s like if you want to follow me, follow me, but don’t just do it because of followers! I’ve gone through on a following spree this morning to find new blogs to inspire me! xxx

  5. 18/08/2017 / 12:13 pm

Hahaaaa I definitely related to these! The follow/unfollow thing drives me INSANE, at first I was experiencing it just on instagram but I’ve also noticed it on Twitter over the past month and I just think why and how do people have the time for this?! Someone follow/unfollowed me in Instagram NINE times in four months. The stupidest thing was I was following this person from the day I opened my account anyway! xxx

I can relate to all of these! I love it when people say, I’m sorry for the auto DM well if you know it’s annoying, why do it? And the whole follow/unfollow game is really annoying me lately! I look one minute and I’m only two away, the next I’m ten away… Stop getting me excited!

Ahh I can relate to ALL of these! I never used auto DMs and I’m glad haha, they’re really annoying – I just delete them. Following to unfollowing is the most annoying thing ever, JUST DON’T DO IT! xx

Unfollowers are my biggest peeve! I always stalk to see if they seem genuine now! So disappointing seeing they’ve unfollowed a day later xx

I’m the same darling, honestly it has to be the most annoying thing in the world! xxxx

  11. 05/09/2017 / 11:36 am

All of these are peeves of mine too! Another one is with regard to posts when someone is talking about a new favourite lipstick and don’t include a picture of what it looks like on or any swatches, why am I gonna believe that it’s so good if I can only see what it looks like in a tube!

    • facebook-profile-picture
      amiecadwallader@outlook.com
      06/09/2017 / 1:05 pm

I can’t talk too much about swatches, I’m awful at taking pictures of swatches! xxxx

  12. 15/10/2017 / 6:13 pm

Agree with all of these! I stopped checking who was following/unfollowing for a while, but then it got so bad I just check fairly often now. It’s just annoying. I feel like I’m also seeing a lot more (what seem like) bot comments from people with a not so big following, which is disheartening really. People still think that is the way to start!

I still check it sometimes, but it just annoys me that people think it is okay to follow and unfollow. I just want people to follow me because they want to follow me! xxxx
