Why I’m Not Pressuring Myself About Numbers

Numbers, numbers, numbers, they dictate a hell of a lot in our lives, whether it is our clothes sizes, shoe sizes, even the amount of followers we have a number pretty much defines everything. I think I’ve got to the point in my life where I’m honestly not worrying about the numbers which are supposed to define me. The main ones are to do with my blog and my size, I’ve lost a hell of a lot of weight and worked really hard on continuing that journey and being healthy, I’m not going to be defined by a number – including with my blog, but why?

The Blog

I love my blog, I work so hard on it, from the content to the photos, to everything to be honest, I work really hard to make sure that it shows the kind of person that I am in every post. That is so important that the people who read my posts know who I am, but the pressure to get the views (I talked about page views here) to get the followers, to get the collaborations, they’re everywhere! I’m at the point where I love my blog enough to know that it will do the talking, if people want to read my blog, to follow me, even collaborate with me, then it will happen.

I believe it is one of those things where when you put in the work, you get exactly what you want out of it. I’m working on writing for me, putting my voice out there, being myself and not having to explain why I’m so fabulous to everyone. My blog isn’t perfect, but it is an extension of me, and I’m mega proud of it!

My Looks

Now I’m not saying I’m going to be the most positive peach in the world, I mean we can’t all be like that 24/7 it’s not physically possible, and we all know how moody anyone can be on a bad day! But I don’t always feel 100% about my looks, and especially about my weight, I mean you look everywhere and people expect you to be a certain size, look a certain way and that is so triggering to me. As someone who has struggled with the way she looks and feels for years, seeing people who are more realistic in size actually helps me but I’m not pressuring myself to be a certain size in life anymore, I workout out, I eat healthy and have things like chocolate and cupcakes in moderation, because let’s be honest what is life without a cupcake in hand?

You are more than a number, you are more than a statistic, you’re more than that, you’re a beautiful human that is more than just a number on my screen.

What are your thoughts on numbers in life? Let me know in the comments, I’d love to know!

Such a lovely post, I love the positive message behind this. As long as you are happy with yourself then that number on the scale or that drop in your follow count shouldn’t mean a thing. Thanks for sharing!

Was chatting about the importance of this with another blogger the other day. Such an important and helpful outlook. We all need to remember this. Being authentic is so much more important than numbers!

This is lovely Amie – and I totally agree, it can be so hard not to be hard on yourself about numbers but everyone needs to remember that they are far more than that and no number can define your worth as a person. As a new blogger I really struggle with the follower thing, but I just try to remember that enjoying what I am doing and being authentic is the most important thing!

I totally agree, but I’m trying to focus on the important things in my blogging journey and not everything is about numbers! xxxx

Working hard on your blog is probably more rewarding than stats, but then again stats can weigh you down when a post doesn’t do as well as you had hoped, especially if you worked hard on it! On the topic of size/weight etc, don’t let numbers define you – you’re a beautiful, caring gal!! xxx

You’ve summarised exactly how I feel about numbers, particularly when it comes to my blog. It’s so hard not get wrapped up in those little stats, but in reality they mean nothing. Quality over quantity!

Totally agree Rachel, it’s important to be reminded that numbers don’t define your worth! Xxxx
