I can’t believe how quickly this year has gone, before we know it we will be at the end of Summer, although I don’t think I’m even ready for Summer to begin. This month I have had the incredible Kay from OhKay- DohKay in my sidebar, I have appreciated Kay’s fabulous blog from afar because I’m the kind of person that is a little shy, but I have loved her blog for so long! She is ridiculously talented, her photos, her writing, everything is just sheer perfection! Are you ready to find out more about Kay? Let’s go!
1. What is the reason you started your blog/business?
I first started blogging when I was in university and I was interested in becoming a journalist after graduation, I was writing for the student newspaper but wanted my own space to express myself. None of those blogs last very long but when I started OhKay-DohKay in 2014 I had a much better idea of what it meant to write a blog. At that time I was unemployed and had just started to get involved with politics, I thought it would be a good way to help people engage. It’s kind of evolved from there.
2. What have you learned through your blogging/business journey?
I honestly never appreciated how hard blogging is because there is so much going on behind the scenes. When I first started blogging I would literally click publish and as far as I was concerned that was all I needed to do. I never imagined that it would mean so many hours of hard work. I also never imagined that I would love it as much as I do.
3. How would you best describe your blog/business?
I guess my blog is mainly lifestyle but I like to talk about all kinds of things from politics and feminism to crime. In that sense I think my blog reflects my personality because I’m so interested in so many things.
4. Name something quirky that you can do that we might not know.
I am really good at understanding music and remembering song lyrics even if they are 10 years old. I should have entered that lyric game show on TV.
5. What is was one of your favourite posts to write/create? What about it did you enjoy the most?
I really enjoyed writing my “Politics – the basics” series back in 2015 because it was something that I’d wanted to do for a long time. I guess it was a really rewarding series to write because it took a lot of time, editing and guts to do it. I was really nervous about publishing them but they were fun to write. At the moment I am enjoying my Missing Monday series for similar reasons, although they take ages to write.
6. Why should someone come and visit your blog?
I think that you should visit my blog because you might learn something new. I like to think that my blog helps to politicise or engage people.
