12 Things You Should Do For Yourself This Year

This year I have decided that I am starting as I mean to go on, I want to make sure that that 2017 is the best year it can be and I achieve as much as I physically can. I know people say new year, new me, but that isn’t what I’m going to say, it’s a new year and a different outlook on life. I will probably have changed my tune by the time 7th January comes around but let’s at least give it a go right? So I thought this year to kick off the year perfectly, I’d write a post of things that I want to do this year to make it this everything I want it to be and more!

One. Rid myself of toxic people – This is something that I need to do. There are so many toxic people in my life and people who I genuinely don’t need in my life and people who bring such negativity to my life and I don’t need that.

Two. Stay motivated – I want to stay motivated to achieve my goals this year because I have so much that I genuinely want to do not only with my blog but with my life in general.

Three. Live for myself – Recently I’ve been living my life to try and impress others and not doing what I want to do and it has been stressing me out to no end so now I’m doing what is best for me, nothing more because it is honestly not worth it.

Four. Make time for myself – This is something I am genuinely having to learn and work at so hard because I don’t make time for myself enough and when I do I end up feeling ridiculously lazy but it is definitely needed.

Five. Face my fears – Dreams start at the end of my comfort zone, and I am embracing and facing my fears in 2017 as much as I physically can because I know it will be worth it in the long term.

Six. Stop being so hard on myself – I am always my own worst enemy, I am my biggest critic and it gets to me so much, it is important to learn to love every piece of you, to give yourself a break when things get tough!

Seven. Move on from the past – There is nothing that you can change about the past, it’s about creating a beautiful and wonderful future and making everyday count!

Eight. Get things done – Procrastination is my worst problem, especially when it comes to writing blog posts, so I am working so hard on breaking that cycle and working hard. I actually wrote a blog post on fighting procrastination here.

Nine. Give up on comparisons – Comparisons ruin everything, they take all of the joy out of your life and stop you from focusing on the positives in your life. There are so many amazing things about yourself, never forget that.

Ten. Forget other people’s expectations of your life – This is your life, you live it the way you want to! Other people’s expectations don’t matter because they can’t live their lives through you and it is completely wrong. It is not a way of living your life, you need to make your own decisions and your own mistakes.

Eleven. Laugh as much as possible – Laughter is the best possible medicine, it always makes me feel so much better and when you have a good giggle with the people you love everything seems a little brighter doesn’t it? It doesn’t solve all your problems but it makes it a little better.

Twelve. Forgive yourself – We all make make mistakes, it’s a fact of life but do you know what that is part of life and you should always forgive yourself as quickly as possible so you can move forward with your life.

    Happy New Year! Loved reading this post and a lot of it is exactly what I need to do too. I have 0 toxic people in my life, I’d rather have 2 really great friends than a bunch of ‘friends’. I also need to become a lot more organised and stay focused, I too am a massive procrastinator – just one more youtube video then I will start to write, 10 videos later and I still haven’t done anything lol.

    I love this post so much. I especially agree with the comparisons. I’m so guilty of comparing myself to others to the point that I get very anxious and stressed out, especially when it comes to grades in uni and blogging! This year I intend to focus on myself.

    Happy New Year lovely! These goals are great and very inspiring. I am quite good at keeping toxic people out of my life and have a small group of close knit friends rather than a big group. I am also going to try and do more of what I want to do this year without worrying about what others expect of me.

    I completely agree with these goals! Especially getting rid of toxin people nobody needs that in our lives! I’m all about embracing the moment and enjoying myself 🙂

    Getting things done is one of my favorite things to tell myself. I love crossing items off of my to-do list. Also a list is a great way to motivate yourself to do things. If the list gets too long I get stressed.
