Small Comforts For Bad Days

We all have bad days, however when you struggle with your mental health honestly it can even more difficult. However there are things that help me to feel more at ease and just to feel more comforted overall. Does this sound like the kind of thing that you need right now? Then chill out with this blog post & let’s have a good read!

1. Duvet Time

Nothing makes me feel more comforted than being curled up in my duvet, if you have the opportunity, then you should totally do it because let’s be honest it makes you feel so much better in the long term!

2. Movies

When I’m having a bad day I tend to find solace in movies, I think it allows me to be taken away to somewhere else, away from what is going on in my head and to just chill out. It gives me a lot of peace emotionally.

This might sound strange, however when I read quotes they make me feel so much better, I know that might sound odd but sometimes you can get so much comfort from just reading a few lines. Especially if they feel like they relate to what you are going through right this moment.

4. The blogging community

I have found such strength from the blogging community, I have some amazing friends that I am so grateful to have in my life! I have been so lucky to meet this fabulous community and gain so much support from them. I actually spoke recently about the reasons I love the blogging community which you can read here.

5. Cups of tea

Cuppas are honestly the be all and end all of life. Tea is always needed (but don’t get me started on the colour it is supposed to be because I love my tea really milky) and when a cup of tea tastes fabulous it’s like the little pick me up you need!

6. YouTube

I actually have a YouTube now but I’m still trying to get more consistent with my posting (please follow me here) but there are so many amazing YouTubers that honestly make me feel so much better and that make me smile! Dorkface, Very Berry Cosmo, Robowecop, Bubbly Bex 3, Katy Gilroy & Little Fickle. These are some of my favourite youtubers right now, they cheer me up so much and make me feel so happy!

7. Read books you loved as a child

This might sound so weird, but do you know what it works! It gives you all those amazing memories you had as a child and it makes me feel like I’ve gone back in time and I’m a child reading those books for the first time all over again.

8. Play computer games

Whether it is Sims, Skyrim, Borderlands, Legends Of Zelda, World of Warcraft there is something for everyone out there! There are some incredible games out there, and right now with Christmas coming up, there are so many fabulous deals out there right now!

What are some small comforts for you on bad days? Leave your response in the comments!

Yay for duvet days! I totally resonate with quotes, even on my super bad days.
I have YouTube open/on pretty much all day everyday when I’m home, it just makes me feel inspired!
    Loved this post my lovely!

Love this post because it’s so important to look after number 1 when having a bad day! I like to cuddle up in bed with my teddy and watch videos on YouTube. I’m really into list videos like Top 10 scary buildings and Top 10 films… I don’t know why, it just relaxes me. x

I love having days curled up in the duvet watching Netflix, I might have to start collecting all the Jacqueline Wilson books I loved when I was younger, sounds like a great idea <3

I really love reading books that I liked as child also, I have a copy of The Faraway Tree and The Wishing Chair Collection, books that I adored when I was younger and still really enjoy reading now so I often turn to them when I’m having a bad day. They are the kind of books that send you into another world, perfect for distracting yourself from anything bad going on in your life. Fab post lovely xx

I do almost all of these! Completely sinking my attention into a game like Skyrim or Witcher III is always one of my go-tos, along with watching How I Met Your Mother – I’ll never get sick of that show and it seems to have some sort of weird comfort/familiarity effect on me!

I’m so glad I’m not the only person who likes milky tea. I see all these pictures of how tea is ‘supposed’ to look, when mine is… well, nowhere near that shade. ????

If I’m feeling down I like a nice hot chocolate, while playing Minecraft or maybe Perfect Dark if James is home.

What a lovely post! Duvet time and a cup of tea are two things I think cure all bad days. Jemma and Bex both have wonderful youtube channels. You’ll get there with yours, I really loved your facts about you video!

I’ve just stumbled upon your blog after checking The Girl Gang twitter! I loved this. I feel like duvet time is so necessarily. Some days I really don’t feel like getting up from my bed, so I basically grab my laptop and watch a funny film. Youtube is also a great distraction, I start watching youtubers and I watch random unboxings. This post was very positive and I loved it. I’ll keep an eye for more posts!

I have never thought of re-reading favourite books before! I always watch my favourite tv shows again to cheer me up, so maybe I should try it before watching Gossip Girl for the sixth time this year, ha ha!

Hey Amie! I love your small comforts list :)) It’s so true how good a cup of hot tea makes me feel instantly relaxed & ready to get comfy lol It’s the little things like that that really make my day sometimes. (Plus tea is healthy!) Happy 2017!

I find most quotes to be super cheesy but I guess the good ones really can help. Duvet time = the best time, especially if you have foods and youtube haha
