It’s that time of the month again where I introduce you to more beautiful bloggers that you need in your life, because let’s be honest they’re fabulous! This is a chance for you to get to know the fabulous Kayte from Simple & Season. Now if you’ve not read Simple & Season, then here is a chance for you to fall in love with a beautiful blog, if you have read Simple & Season before, then here is a chance for you to get to know the person behind the blog a little more! Grab a cuppa and have a beautiful read.
1. What was the reason you started your blog/business?
I started Simple & Season in order to create the blog I wanted to read. I followed lots of bloggers, but none of them quite hit the spot of being relatable. I dreamed of escaping the modern grind and living on a farm in Wales with chickens and a wind turbine – I read blogs by inspirational women who had done just that, but it was making me feel like a bit of a failure. I still had to work and live in a town and am a very long way away from being able to afford my own place.⁰⁰ After a mini holiday-induced epiphany, I realised that I didn’t need to wait until I move to the dream house to start having the dream lifestyle. I could start to live more simply, eat seasonally and have an authentic existence right here in my town centre terrace. I also thought that there must be others like me want to find easy, fun ways to simplify their lives without compromising on their careers. I didn’t set out to be an expert, I wanted to learn and discover along with my readers.
2. What have you learned through your blogging/business journey?
To write what I wanted to read and put the reader first. I had another blog a few years ago and was just posting things for the sake of posting rather than because I believed in the content. I realised that I was posting things that even I wouldn’t read, so what was the point?! With Simple & Season I (hopefully!) keep focused on what the reader gets out of each post.
3. How would you best describe your blog/business?
Making the most of our time on earth, in time with the earth. I hope that Simple & Season is a warm and inviting environment full of ideas and things to discover where readers can get inspired and hopefully have a laugh with me.
4. Name something quirky that you can do, that we might not know about you.
I hate these sorts of questions, like when people say ‘tell us about yourself’ and you can’t even remember your own name! I am an incredibly messy and clumsy person (at work I’m known as The Dropper), so I’m actually really good at mess recovery. I’m super quick and efficient and mopping up spills and have tricks to get out almost any stain!
5. What was one of your favourite posts to write or create? What about it did you enjoy the most?
One of my favourite posts so far is ‘Getting Our Home A/W Ready’. I love reading interiors blogs but they’re all written by people who own their own homes – I feel like there’s not much out there for us poor renters who have to work with what we’ve got (and not making any damage!). I enjoy finding little things I can do to make our home more cosy and really loved putting that passion down on the blog. It got a pretty good reaction from my readers too!⁰ 6. Why should someone come and visit your blog/shop/business?⁰Simple & Season is for you if you’re bored of the modern grind and hark back to a time where everyone made their own pastry. Perhaps you’d like to spend more time outdoors and know more about what you see, maybe you’re interested in food and where it comes from (with a burgeoning farmer’s market habit). You want to make your home, whether rented or owned, to look lovely in a genuine way, and you’re curious and always looking to learn and self-improve. In short, you’re looking for more simplicity and authenticity in your life. Come on over for a cuppa with some new friends.
