There Is More To Life Than Likes and Followers

There Is More To Life Than Likes and Followers

Now in the world of social media we are all trying to make sure that we get the most likes & followers, and for our blogs and getting things like sponsored content it is something that brands are ultimately looking at because they want to see a return in their investment as they would see it. I have to admit I still worry a hell of a lot about stats, because I know in some respects my blog is still quite small in comparison and I want to get the best out of it and I feel like sometimes I honestly don’t do enough to maximise that.

Lately what I have realised though is I’m worrying more about what I portray online, for example setting up the perfect shot, whether it is a selfie or whether it is a flat lay, I’m always so self conscious about my photography being absolutely crap, I mean let’s be honest I’m no photographer but I’m definitely trying my best to improve!

Though recently I have felt a change in my life when it comes to likes and followers, it’s so lovely having so many people want to support me and my little blog on a our wonderful journey and I appreciate it everyday more and more, however, I feel like I don’t need a number to validate my life.

It’s important to remember that your world doesn’t revolve around numbers! Now you might be thinking, really? Why are you telling me this? You have loads of followers, you don’t know how hard it is. We’ve all been there at some point, we all had a starting point and growing your brand takes time, I wish there was a simple way of saying it but you just have to work damn hard at it everyday. One day at a time, sharing your voice with the world!

Your blog worth isn’t valued by the number of followers you have, you could have 30k and your writing could be shocking! Or you could have 100k and you could have bought your followers. Don’t ever feel like your blog could be defined by anything other than your writing, you’re incredible and don’t ever feel like you’re anything less than amazing.

Always post things that are true to you and make you so happy, because in the end, that is the most important thing.

Love Amie 2016

As much as I don’t want my life to be defined by numbers, I do find myself paying a lot of attention to then!

I totally agree with you, it’s so easy to be defined by number but your worth is more than a number! <3

I love this post! It is exactly what I needed to hear! I am new blogger (i started in august) and look at all these “bigger” bloggers and think wow no one will ever want to read what I have to say. But I’ve found that people are reading my blog and I have a lot of returning commenters etc. I’ve found since I’ve stopped worrying about followers etc I am much much happier. Even if I had no followers I would still write as I really enjoy writing about all things Vegan 🙂 xo

They will honestly Hayley, it takes time to build an audience but it is worth it and you’re doing a fantastic job, just keep going with it! <3

I’m not even sure what a flat lay is…. should I be worried about that too? Just kidding! This is a great post because we shouldn’t be worried about followers and likes – we should just be blogging because we love to blog!
    Keep doing you bubs!

Not at all, it is so important to do what you love and just share it with the world, regardless of likes & followers! <3

Such a lovely post. It’s so important to remember why you started blogging in the first place, because you simply love it. You could have all the followers in the world but not enjoy the content you are creating. As long as you are having fun, followers and likes shouldn’t matter!

This is so true! It’s important to not get yourself down from followers and likes because we never started blogging for that reason; we started because we love writing or love what we are writing about. The followers and likes are just a bonus to everything else I think. Just have fun and enjoy writing and creating content 🙂 xx

It can be so easy to get down about it and that is totally understandable but it is important to create what you like, because you could have all the followers in the world and not enjoy what you’re creating. It’s important to do what makes you happy! <3

I couldn’t agree more with this post. I’ve seen blogs with tiny followings with amazing content and vice versa! x

Exactly, you can’t judge content by the number of followers you have! There are so many talented bloggers out there! <3

I needed to read this – lately I have felt like I’m doing such a bad job at being a blogger because not many people are engaging with my blog but after reading this it’s made me realise that as long as I love what I’m doing (which I do) it shouldn’t matter so thank you for writing this post 🙂

I have a problem with remembering that my life is not defined by all the things you talk about in this post. I don’t know if its a need to feel successful at everything or accepted. It’ something I need to get over.

I think this was exactly what I needed to hear today. I have been on and off blogging for a while now. But I just started thinking about it more seriously! I found myself fretting over numbers ALOT!
Thank you so much. You’re amazing!
    Keep creating ?

Love this Amy no truer words spoken. Numbers don’t make you who you are unless you let it xxx

I love this post so much. Sometimes I find myself ruled by them. Such a real post!

100% agree with this. Think this time of year when everyone is setting goals it’s easy to get wrapped up in it. But they don’t mean everything and it’s a dangerous game!

I’ve been so bogged down by pageviews & followers lately that I feel discouraged to write any more… I work so hard but I’m getting nowhere, it’s so difficult! So I wish I didn’t care about stats but I really do. I’m trying my best to ignore it though!

Thank you for reminding me why I started writing. Sometimes we lose ourselves in a world that cares more about the amount of likes than the content of the message.
