The Truth About Veganism

Processed with VSCO with a5 preset

As most people know I am vegan, well it is kinda a bit obvious as it is in my URL but oh well, we shall carry on because Amie made a stupid statement. Veganism is something very close to my heart, however it I make a point about not forcing it on people as I have always thought it kind of defeats the object of opening people’s mind to veganism. If you’ve ever been interested in veganism, had any sort of thoughts about it, then I’m going to tell you the whole truth and nothing but the truth about veganism.

So there are so many things that a lot of people who might probably be interested in veganism are probably thinking, so I’m going to breakthrough those thoughts and opening up your mind up to the possibility of maybe transitioning.

So people seems to think all we eat is lettuce and carrots, honestly that is the furthest thing from the truth. We eat so damn much, or at least I do, because I don’t like food, I absolutely love it. It’s one of my favourite things in the world.

Veganism can be as expensive as you want it to be, I mean it is exactly the same as food shopping if you didn’t eat vegan. You can spend as little or as long as you like.

I get the basics which are fruit, veggies, beans, pasta, rice, quinoa you name it we actually eat it in the house. I like to commit carbocide at least once a day, I mean it’s the law right? See I go off on tangent’s again.

I have noticed that more supermarkets are doing things like vegan sausages which are delicious, vegan quorn chicken pieces which they have been doing for about 3 months and they are literally the bomb!

You can eat out, now this might sound so weird, but there are lots of things you can do to eat when you’re out, for example there is this amazing cafe in Maidstone that I went to with my mum, it is so good! I said I was vegan and they helped me to make sure I ate vegan while I was there. If you talk to the restaurant, explain you’re vegan, they might have an idea or you can try to minus certain things that aren’t vegan from the meal that is already there.

I have honestly found that I am the healthiest that I have ever been, it can be frustrating sometimes because you end up going through some of the ingredients because they say they’re vegetarian you end up wondering oooh is this vegan. So annoying though but when you find something that is vegan, it is like there is a hallelujah chorus.

Fancy going vegan? I have lots of delicious recipes for you to try on my blog!

Loved this post Amie! It’s all so true haha! Have you tried Zizzi’s? They make their own rice based cheese for their pizza on their vegan menu and it’s delicious! There’s also a pizza takeaway called Pizza Village in Twickenham that have amazing vegan options!
So many people tell me that they want to eat/live vegan but that they’d find it too hard, but honestly I don’t find it “hard” at all! Maybe I’m just used to cooking my own food most of the time and scanning packets for prohibited ingredients haha! Who knows!
Either way, I totally agree with you that i’m healthier than ever! I’m currently pregnant and whenever I have blood tests and things done i’m always complimented by the doctor at how good everything looks! So I must be doing something right!
Love to you as always girlie x

I actually haven’t tried it personally, however I think it is as difficult as you make it! I do think however it would be really helpful for companies to say outright if something is vegan because it would honestly make my life so much easier! <3

I would love to go vegan one day but I feel like I wouldn’t know what to eat to replace any nutrients I’d need and I end up feeling all overwhelmed about it! I tried going vegetarian about a month ago but I ended up taking bad dizzy spells because it turns out i’m anemic and obviously I wasn’t eating the right foods to get enough iron! lol I am for sure going to give it another go once I get my iron levels built back up!

I make sure that I take my supplements everyday and eat enough things that are rich in vitamins and minerals! It can be done, if you speak to your doctor they should be able to support you if that is something you would want to do! <3
