The Most Common Blogger Problems

tumblr_o6wime3wlf1ts7vmko1_1280

People who think being a blogger is straight forward and easy, I promise you it is the furthest thing from that because there are so many things that you have to consider when you’re writing and in general to be honest. I swear though if I hear one more person say oh blogging is easy I don’t know what your problem is, I think I would probably scream, I mean honestly it’s not as simple as it probably seems from the outside! So are you ready? Let’s go.

1. Natural Lighting

Oh my god when it comes to Autumn/Winter natural lighting is hard to come by, so if you’re trying so hard to take photographs of products, or photos for a blog post, then honestly you’re going to have a huge battle on your hands. WHERE HAS THE LIGHT GONE, WHY HAVE YOU ABANDONED ME IN MY HOUR OF NEED!

2. Topic For Next Blog Post

Sometimes the creative juices just don’t flow when you need them to, and it is really difficult to be able to get the thoughts from your brain to the computer, so if you’re me, I just sit there and procrastinate, because guess what procrastination is like my best friend. If you’re struggling creatively, I have an amazing post for you here.

3. Engagement

When you work really hard on a blog post and you get next to no engagement, it is one of the most difficult things to process because you think, what are you doing wrong, what could I do better, or are my blog posts just not right for everyone? I have had this previously, it is one of the most difficult things in the world when you don’t get the engagement that you hope for.

4. Quality Over Quantity

This is one that I struggle with, especially because I think oh my god I haven’t posted in like 2 days, I need to get writing because my blog will start to fade into the distance! You can’t always write a blog post everyday, if you can that is amazing, but don’t feel pressured into doing it!

5. Comments Are Lacking

I honestly struggle with this because I think what am I doing wrong, are people not enjoying my blog posts which is why they’re not commenting or are people feeling like I’m not drawing them in enough to get them to leave a comment. The struggle is real I tell you.

6. I Can’t Dedicate As Much Time As I Would Like

People do have lives outside of their blog, which means they have families, careers, school, social lives and sometimes you just genuinely can’t dedicate as much time as you would want to and you look at people who are full time and it’s like TEACH ME YOUR WAYS!

7. Photography Problems

Besides the natural lighting, sometimes you just genuinely cannot get the shot to work, whether you change the angles that you come from, if you change the props, sometimes it just doesn’t happen. It usually happens on one of those times when you need to get everything done too which is annoying to say the least.

8. Negativity

There are so many negative people in the world, and sometimes it can be so difficult to deal with, but do you know what, if someone says something negative, let them get on with it, at the end of the day, most of the time they’re looking for a reaction from you, they’re looking for you to have a go at them, but let’s be honest, they’re not worth the time of day!

9. The Number Struggle

Whether it is like on your Instagram or the amount of followers you have overall, we’re all trying to better ourselves and grow our blogs, but sometimes comparing ourselves to others and how they have grown their blogs, but to be honest it shouldn’t matter! We are all doing different things, and trying to achieve a variety of things in life, do you, not someone else!

10. Envy

I am currently struggling with this, because I look at how others are growing and I feel like I’ve hit a blogging slump, like what am I doing, what am I trying to be, and trying to find my space within the community is so difficult. I feel like I am not achieving much right now too, which is one of the most difficult things in the world. I’m envious of the people who have found their space and are thriving!

Are you feeling similar right now? Have I missed out any? Leave your response in the comments! I’d love to hear from you!

I totally agree with all of these! I put a post up at the weekend about blogging and working full time and how I deal with it. Blogging isn’t as easy as it looks! X

I totally agree, it is just so hard, and so difficult, and people seem to think it is so easy when in reality it isn’t, there are so many aspects to think of, so it’s not as straight forward as people think!💜

  3. 10/05/2016 / 8:06 am

Agree with every single one! Haha it’s all worth it to me but it does get annoying when people assume it’s easy and straight foreword!

I totally agree Jess! It really does get on my nerves when people go oh it’s so easy, what are you talking about, it’s like oh dear you have no idea!💜

  4. 10/05/2016 / 8:09 am

Yes!!! I totally get all of this, one thing I really struggle with is lack of comments and lack of followers, people say they love my post / blog etc but don’t follow – makes you question things.

I can totally understand that, however, what I do suggest is just continue to work hard, you’ve got an amazing blog and you’re doing an amazing job! Be proud of what you’re doing!💜

I totally agree! I think every blogger feels like that at least once in a while! I am always really disappointed when I don’t get comments on a post and even though I don’t want to feel sad about it I still do!

I totally agree with all of these!! Especially lighting, it’s the Bain of my life, I also need to remember about quality over quantity – next month due to mock exams I’ll only be posting once a week so I really want them to be good quality posts xx

I totally relate to so many of the points in your post. I tend to have a week where I will be completely motivated with my blog and seem to have so much spare time to really commit to it. Then there will be weeks where I haven’t even got time to think twice about it. I need to learn how to plan ahead a little better and schedule future posts for those times where I just can’t find a spare minute to take photos/sit and write.

  12. 16/05/2016 / 9:18 pm

I totally agree with all of these! I personally always find its hard to talk to others about these problems that are non-bloggers! I can’t wait for the good natural lighting either!

yaas! I’m totally with you on all of these! Esp the good natural lighting thing- oh my word! It’s so hard to feel motivated when you’re in that slump and nothing seems to be working out the way you want… I think the main thing is that we keep trying 🙂

OMG yes to every single one! I’ve been worrying a lot lately about not posting enough, but it really doesn’t matter as much as I think. It’s easy to get a bit envious of successful bloggers, but it will be our turn soon don’t worry!

  17. 20/06/2016 / 3:21 pm

Oh my gosh, this post is SO relevant. I’ve been blogging for the past four years and every single one of these is so true and it’s hard to get across to people. Most specifically my family, but sometimes my friends. My family doesn’t understand how it takes so much time and anytime I’ve hidden my face for hours they want to know what I’m up to and don’t believe that blogging could or should take so many hours out of my day. From photography issues to sheer creative blocks to beating myself up for not doing a better job, blogging pretty much is a full time job.

I loved this post so much, thank you!

I’m so glad that you loved this post darling! I think sometimes if you haven’t blogged it can be incredibly difficult for people to understand. I know that my family definitely doesn’t understand what it is like to do things like blogging and how much effort it takes. 💜

  18. 23/06/2016 / 7:34 pm

Yes! Natural lighting for sure and then basically engagement altogether (sharing, comments, etc.). I’ve been struggling with that lately as a new blogger! Love your site!

Really relating to the ‘Next Topic’ one at the moment. The internet went off at my house for several days (horror) and now I feel like I’ve fallen out of the swing of things. This is such a relatable and witty post :).

Maybe try to get back into it by looking at what is in your draft posts, see if there are any posts that are in there that can help you to get back into it and just get you back in the flow of writing. If there is anything I can do to support you, please do let me know!💜

The struggle is real! I’ve had my blog, in some form, since 2006 and probably have 2 – 3 people that a comment regularly! I used to have a lot more. I think know my writing has gotten better. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.
