The Greatest Things Of The Last 30 Years

The Research

This amazing research was carried out by the wonderful Travelodge, but did you know that they were the first UK budget hotel brand? Even I didn’t know that, but they’ve been around for as long as I can remember! Throughout the research it talks about a range of things that people believe are the best things over 30 years, I know my favourites but lets have a little look at what everyone else has said.

The World Changes

If you look at the last 30 years, the way things have happened, what the world has achieved, it’s staggering. The growth of the internet, social media, smart phones, computers, but not only that the way that we go about our daily lives has changed completely. If you ask people what is the first thing they do in the morning, I know that most people will say to check some sort of social media, whether it is Twitter, Facebook, TumblrInstagram or any other social media platform to see what has happened overnight, what the latest news is from Hollywood, or even in your local area.

Technological Breakthroughs

Like I said above, over the last few years technology has been something that people have commented, everything from the 1st iPhone, to the tiny phones from about 10 years ago, now we have big phones, with big camera’s and more capabilities that we couldn’t in our dreams have imagined 25 years ago.

One of the other fabulous breakthroughs like online shopping (I don’t know how we lived without it, shopping at any time of the day or night) having a variety of choices and options available and being able to control when your delivery is made!

My Top Greatest List

Online Shopping

I don’t think I could live without my online shopping, I love how easy it is to see styles on your screen,  and you can be sitting in your pj’s and not even have to move! The other good thing about online shopping is you can quickly find out what they have in stock without having to try and battle to find your size, because there is nothing worse than spending 10 minutes trying to find your size, and then finding out they don’t have it!

Sky+ & Other TV Packages

I remember when I wanted something recorded having to put a video in, keep it on that channel and hoping that it recorded, whereas now, with a touch of a button you can click record or catch up with programmes instantly. I have to admit catching up on tv on a Sunday is always a good idea and you have a chance to just chill out too!

Smartphones

I cannot live without my phone, I love everything that I can do on it, I am able to sort all my emails out while I’m on the move, I’m able to tweet when I have a moment, check Facebook, look at the news & take pictures, having a smartphone has definitely cut out a lot of time when it comes to checking my emails & contacting people!

Mobile Apps

I love my apps way too much on my phone, I have so many (and yes I need them all) but they are all brilliant in their own way, for example, Angry Birds and Bejeweled are 2 that I am completely addicted too. I love that if you go into the app store, there is something there for everyone, they don’t have to be games either there is just so much available to you!

Netflix

I couldn’t live without my Netflix, I think if I couldn’t have Netflix I would feel like I’d lost a limb, some of my absolute favourite programmes are on there,  and you don’t have to sit through adverts, because they’re literally the most annoying things sometimes. I know adverts are important, but if you see the same ones over and over again, it’s gets a bit annoying, does anyone agree with me?

The Selfie

There is no one in this world that doesn’t know what a selfie is, my 80 year old Nan knows what a selfie is, and if you follow my Instagram (if you don’t click here) I love a good selfie, my Instagram is literally filled with them (that and food of course) and what I also love looking at selfies and seeing people smiling with their family and friends!

Google

Google and I are best friends, it’s always there when I need it the most, it is always there when I don’t know the answer to something, Google is the best thing ever. Looking back on it, I don’t know how I managed to find the answers before, but it makes it so easy to have access to a wide variety of different opinions and information!

Twitter

I cannot live without tweeting, I spend so much time tweeting friends, family, catching up on people’s opinions, what is going on in the world, talking to celebrities! It is easy to use, it takes a couple of seconds to tweet and it’s always quick to talk to people through it!
