Staying Safe In The Sunshine

With the warmer weather finally starting to stand outside our front doors it’s time to start looking at how we can stay safe in the sunshine.

Start off with sun protection 

Sun protection is ridiculously important, when looking for the right sun protection you need to look at broad spectrum sunscreens which protect against UVA and UVB rays which can be some of the most harmful rays.

In the UK the UVA protection protection is measured with a star rating, so the higher the star rating, the greater the protection the sun screen has to offer. What I would suggest however, is trying not to lay out in the sunshine between 11am and 3pm, so during these times try to stay in the shade to avoid damage to your skin.

If you are going swimming and you have sunscreen on, then as soon as you come out of the water, make sure you reapply it when you come out, it’s important to make sure you’re protected.

This one is a children’s sun protection, but if you have very sensitive skin or you are prone to getting sun burn, then with by wearing this you will be protected from the harmful rays and you will stay safe in the sunshine.

This cream is absolutely incredible, it’s not a thin sun lotion, and it’s also gentle enough so you can put it on your face too. The other incredible thing is the fact that it has hemp seed oil in it, which will moisturise your skin and it isn’t one of these sticky suntan creams that will glue to your skin, it is light and perfect for your skin.

This fabulous one is a sun screen that is suitable for everyone, it lasts a really long time in terms of the amount you use every time you apply it, but also it is a brilliant one for sensitive skin! Jason does a variety of different SPF factors so it’s important to look into ones that are perfect for yourself, but please use at least a SPF 15 sun screen to protect yourself.

Don’t forget that sunscreen doesn’t just mean that it stops with your skin, your lips are still sensitive too, so by using a SPF on your lips then you are protecting them from any type of sunburn too, and that is important because you the last thing you need is your lips hurting and being chapped.

Stay protected with clothing

When going out in the sunshine you want to make sure that you’re safe, and it is also important to take into account your clothing and what you wear. During the summer months hat, sunglasses and cover ups are really important to have, so before you go jetting off to sunnier climbs be prepared.

Make sure that you drink enough water

I cannot stress enough of how important it is for you to drink enough water and stay hydrated as much as possible, try to make sure that you’re eating enough too, even if you aren’t hungry, things like fruit and vegetables can really help you with your water intake, but also makes sure that your body doesn’t go into starvation mode.

Staying safe in the sunshine is extremely important, don’t ever underestimate the power of the sunshine, it can damage your skin.
