How Coconut Oil Saved My Hair

We have those moments where we put lots of products on our hair to moisturise it, to make sure that it is soft, to deal with fly aways yet we don’t actually look to see what is in our products. With all of the nice smells we get from the products, all of the adverts that tell us we will have luscious, silky soft hair we all long for, but I have found that coconut oil has actually helped my hair so much it’s like it’s been rescued.

I have incredibly thick hair, it’s fine but there is a lot of it, and  it struggles to retain any moisture, well I tried coconut oil, because a friend on tumblr had mentioned it, and I thought why not, I massaged it into the ends, and then left it massaged into my scalp for around 20 minutes, washed it out with shampoo and got out and my split ends were practically non existent, my hair was soft, manageable and fly away’s had been tamed.

I use it on a regular basis around 3 times a week, and it really helps your hair honestly.

So what are some of the fabulous benefits of using coconut oil on your hair?

1. Hair damage.

While you’re straightening your hair, blow drying your hair your hair can easily get damaged or the ends of your hair start to get dry and brittle, well by using coconut oil on the ends of your hair it helps to reduce protein loss.

2. Calming effects.

If you struggle with your scalp sweating then this is a fabulous way of calming your scalp but not only that if you struggle with the top of your head getting hot, it can help to cool you down, and not only that it can help to soothe your head.

3. A fabulous moisturiser.

When you are trying to lock in moisture in your hair, it is important to make sure that it doesn’t get evaporated or is broken down in your hair, but coconut up helps to lock in the moisture so it won’t just escape, but not only that  it can help keep your hair soft and to help prevent the ends of your hair breaking.

4. Useful conditioner

Remembering to condition your hair is incredibly important and by using coconut oil as a conditioner saves you so much money but also it can help your hair feel healthy, strong and conditioned. Also you could leave coconut oil on your hair overnight and then wash it in the morning, a fabulous conditioning treatment for your hair.

5. Anti-dandruff

Dandruff can be everyone’s worst nightmare, it can be difficult and making sure that you address it is important. The properties in coconut oil can help you to get rid of dandruff, make sure you mix it in with lukewarm water, you could also add in a little caster oil and then massage it into the scalp, leave it on for around 30 minutes and kiss goodbye to dandruff.

6. Your styling fix

Coconut oil can have a similar consistency to other hair styling products, and this can easily be used when it comes to coconut oil. Coconut oil is a fabulous way of styling your hair, so you can easily use it as a styling gel or cream, so if you’ve got a pixie crop you could easy use it as a gel to give your hair some movement.

7. Split end saviour

Split ends can be a real nightmare, especially when it comes to doing something with your hair, for example straightening or blow drying your hair. Coconut oil can really help when it comes to split ends, if you get some coconut oil and almond and then mix it into the end of your hair leave it a few minutes and then wash it out, it can help to join the split ends back together.

8. Hair toning

This can really help if you struggle with dry hair too, so if you mix warm coconut oil onto the scalp at night, wash it in the morning, it will leave your hair feeling luscious. If you do this on a regular basis it can help when it comes to wanting your hair healthy and fabulous.

Give it a go, honestly, even if it is a little pot of coconut, it will help you and save you so much money of styling products.
